The farm was purchased in 2022 by Simon McAuley “Sid”, knowing that it was in need of major regeneration. This didn’t scare serial entrepreneur Sid.
Gripps Farm has been created to bring together great food, local produce, a welcoming café and memorable family experiences in one destination.
Our aim is to offer something different from a supermarket or chain café. We want visitors to enjoy shopping for quality local products, relaxing with friends over great coffee and introducing children to farm animals in a safe environment.
We believe the best rural businesses are built around people, relationships and community. Every visitor should feel welcomed from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave.
We are located just off the A174 between the wonderful towns of Saltburn and Loftus, a 10 minute drive away from each. There is a bus stop on the opposite side of the road from the farm entrance. Currently there are two bus services that stop there, the Arriva X4 and 5 Service. (Updated 30/07/2026)
Gripps Farm’s opening days have changed. We are now open between 8:30AM and 6PM on the following days:
During Term Times: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
During School Holidays: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
The Petting Barn is open for several slots each day – you must purchase tickets and arrive for the beginning of your chosen time slot to guarantee entry and reduce wait times.
